We've stayed at bed & breakfasts all over the country, but this was a first - it was a room in someone's home. At first this seemed like a really strange arrangement, even when we pulled into the driveway of this Arlington home. The moment that Geraldine opened the door, though, we were at home. She was the consummate hostess. Geraldine gave us two of the best tips of the vacation (use the Metro, and take the TourMobile - you'll find out about both later in the vacation web page)
If it's privacy that you're after, then this is still a perfect place. You walk through the front door, up an immediate flight of stairs, and you are in your own spacious room with adjoining private bath. The bath is one of the best features of the B&B - it's twice as large as your average bathroom, and contains a jacuzzi tub that was a welcome feature after our long treks around Washington.
This room does have a nice-sized television, and an exhaustive library of videotapes in the room. If you're in the mood to just retire back to the bed and vegetate, the room is ready. We watched the old classic "Bridge on the River Kwai" and relaxed. The room also has a refridgerator and microwave to facilitate in-room picnics, something that we took advantage of!
Breakfasts are palatial spreads at Geraldine's B&B, and every single morning we had something different. From bacon & scrambled eggs to trout & waffles, it was all delicious. Eating those delectable dishes every day, we were very glad that our daily agenda included a lot of walking. Geraldine and her Apple-Betty & Cinnamon bed and breakfast gets extremely high ratings from us!
